Job summary

Great Hearts Academies is seeking a K-5 Math Interventionist to provide targeted instruction in a 1:1 or small group setting at the Great Hearts Northern Oaks Lower School in San Antonio, TX. The role focuses on closing the achievement gap through data-driven planning and a student-centered intervention program.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in math/education and at least 3 years of K-12 math teaching experience, with strong collaboration skills and a commitment to high-quality

Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience teaching mathematics in a K-12 setting.
  • Knowledge of Algebra I and Algebra II preferred for upper school positions.
  • Experience and training in administering assessments and analyzing data to drive instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct instruction to students identified for math services in 1:1 and/or small group settings.
  • Develops an intervention system to close the math achievement gap.
  • Ensures students master grade level standards and curriculum.
  • Creates an effective learning environment and uses research-based math instruction.
  • Collaborates with classroom teachers to align instruction and interventions.
  • Travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.

Position Title: K-5 Math Interventionist Location: Great Hearts Northern Oaks Lower School (17223 Jones Maltsberger Rd. San Antonio, TX 78247) Reports To: Headmaster FLSA Status: Salaried-Exempt

Mathematics Interventionist Role Summary
  • Provides direct instruction to students identified as eligible for math services in 1:1 and/or small group settings.
  • Develops a student-centered system of intervention that effectively works to close the achievement gap in mathematics.
  • Ensures that students master grade level standards and curriculum.
  • Creates a classroom environment and research-based program of study that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of scientifically based mathematics instruction.
  • Uses a variety of manipulatives and hands-on activities to support content standards and meet the needs and capabilities of students.
  • Effectively analyzes/uses data and conducts student assessments to identify those eligible for intervention services, plan instruction, and assist staff members in learning various assessment techniques.
  • Identifies student needs and data to guide the learning process toward achievement of district’s math content standards.
  • Monitors and assesses student progress on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  • Understands how to use technology for instructional planning, i.e. creating reports and using data to plan lessons.
  • Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects using formal and informal assessment data.
  • Communicates and collaborates with classroom teachers to ensure alignment between classroom instruction and interventions.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in math, education, or related field required
  • 3 years of experience teaching students in mathematics in a K-12 school setting
  • Knowledge of Algebra I and Algebra II preferred for upper school positions
  • Experience Proven track record of instructing diverse learners, including English Language Learners and Special Education students, in the area of mathematics.
  • Experience and training in administering assessments and analyzing data to drive instruction.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships.
  • Detailed-oriented with strong organization and time management skills.
