Great Hearts Academies in Arlington is seeking a Math Interventionist for K-5 to provide direct instruction to students identified for math services in 1:1 or small-group settings.

You will develop intervention plans, monitor progress, and collaborate with classroom teachers to align interventions with math standards. The role requires a bachelor’s in math and a Texas teaching certificate, with a strong commitment to data-informed instruction and student growth.

We believe the highest goal of education is to become good, intellectually and morally.Distinctive benefits for Great Hearts faculty:Exceptional Benefits (medical, dental, vision etc.) with minimal employee costTexas Teacher Retirement SystemUniquely valuable professional development offerings, from great books seminars with academy colleagues, to leadership and special education coursework/pathways, to reduced tuition graduate degree support with select partner universitiesThe Mathematics Interventionist :Provides direct instruction to students identified as eligible for math services in 1:1 and/or small group settings.Develops a student-centered system of intervention that effectively works to close the achievement gap in mathematics.Ensures that students master grade level standards and curriculumCreates a classroom environment and research-based program of study that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.Demonstrates knowledge of scientifically based mathematics instruction.Uses a variety of manipulatives and hands-on activities to support content standards and meet the needs and capabilities of studentsEffectively analyzes/uses data and conducts student assessments to identify those eligible for intervention services, plan instruction, and assist staff members in learning various assessment techniques.Identifies student needs and data to guide the learning process toward achievement of district’s math content standards.Monitors and assesses student progress on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.Understands how to use technology for instructional planning, i.e. creating reports and using data to plan lessons.Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects using formal and informal assessment data.Communicates and collaborates with classroom teachers to ensure alignment between classroom instruction and interventions.Completes other duties as assignedMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Instructional and Program ManagementUtilize student data to help teachers identify and group students who need additional support.Design intervention plans and monitor progress for students who are struggling.Maintain records of student work and progress toward mastery of skills identified in intervention plan.Maintain open and consistent communication about student progress, concerns, and achievement with families and the school community.Consult with teachers to develop appropriate strategies for addressing the needs of students.Serve as a resource for classroom teachers with strategies, plans and materials.Participate in district and campus trainings.Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local policy.Classroom Management and OrganizationCreate classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.CommunicationEstablish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.Special Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of the Section 504 processKnowledge of best practice strategies; Ability to interpret dataAbility to communicate effectively and relate positively to parents, students, and staffAbility to work as a teamStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsFlexibility in high-pressure situations; Ability to handle high-volume, fast-paced workloadGood judgment in handling confidential information; Detail-orientedQualifications:Education/CertificationBachelor’s degree in Math, or a related fieldValid Texas teaching certification in Math or a related area strongly preferredExperienceThree (3) years successful teaching experience and/or experience providing math intervention to K-5 studentsCompensation:Great Hearts offers a very competitive benefits package and overall compensation will be commensurate with talent, experience and education.Additional Requirements:Type of fingerprint clearance: Must possess or obtain valid Texas fingerprint clearance card.Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching.
