Indiana Math and Science Academy West is seeking a highly motivated, dedicated, and enthusiastic math interventionist to become part of a team of outstanding educators. The position involves close collaboration with grade-level math teachers, the MTSS team, and school leadership, along with a commitment to student achievement.
The interventionist is responsible for Tier 2 and Tier 3 math intervention for grades 6-8 and builds the foundational number sense, computational fluency, and problem-solving skills students need to access grade-level mathematics. The interventionist will also be responsible for analyzing student data to identify skill gaps, plan targeted instruction, and monitor progress for diverse learners. Differentiated instruction and flexible small-group instruction are an integral part of the expectations for this position.
Primary Functions
To lead, support, and develop middle school students who are struggling in mathematics, helping them close skill gaps and succeed in grade-level coursework.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver daily small-group and individual intervention lessons using approved curriculum and intervention resources, based on data from screeners, diagnostics, and formative and summative assessments.
- Administer screening, diagnostic, and progress-monitoring assessments (including NWEA MAP) and use results to form and adjust intervention groups.
- Monitor and document student growth, keeping accurate records of attendance, intervention sessions, progress-monitoring scores, and work completion.
- Collaborate with grade 6-8 math teachers to align intervention with core instruction and support students in accessing grade-level content.
- Participate in MTSS and data meetings, sharing student progress and contributing to decisions about tier placement and next steps.
- Administer standardized tests.
- Build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
- Encourage students to reason mathematically, persevere in problem solving, and explain their thinking.
- Establish and maintain a positive learning environment that builds student confidence in math.
- Communicate with parents and school academic and counseling teams on student progress.
- Supervise students in assigned out-of-classroom activities during the working day.
- Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
- Contribute to the positive culture of the school and foster a growth mindset in self and others.
- Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
- Regularly infuse habits of good citizenship and social-emotional learning into instruction.

Educational Requirements
A bachelor's degree or higher in mathematics, mathematics education, middle school education, or a related field from an accredited program is required. An Indiana teaching license in mathematics (middle school or secondary) is preferred; candidates pursuing licensure are encouraged to apply.
