Job summary

Marshall Public Schools is seeking a paraprofessional to assist in the educational needs of students and provide backup support for classrooms in the absence of teachers.

The ideal candidate will have an associate degree or 60+ credit hours, be able to obtain a Michigan substitute permit, and demonstrate calm, patient demeanor with children and adults. CPI certification is a plus but not required, with a focus on supporting a positive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or 60+ credit hours from a degree-granting college/university.
• Ability to obtain a substitute permit from the State of Michigan.
• CPI certification is preferred but not required.
• Parental experience is desired but not required.
• Ability to work well with children and adults.
• Calm and patient demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Assist in individual or small group pupil instruction.
• Assist classroom teacher(s) in maintaining discipline and supervision in the classroom.
• Escort students to and from various rooms when necessary.
• Demonstrate initiative and creativity with student(s).
• Serve as substitute teacher in the event of lack of teacher coverage.
• Advance the district's mission, vision, and priorities through daily practice.
• Model district values and foster a collaborative, inclusive environment.
• Adhere to district health and safety procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the principal or teachers.

NATURE OF POSITION:

The paraprofessional will assist in the educational needs of students and serve as backup, when needed, to support the classroom in the absence of teachers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associates Degree; OR 60+ credit hours from a degree granting college/university
• Ability to receive a substitute permit from the State of Michigan
• Certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), preferred but not required
• Parental experience desired but not required
• Ability to work well with children and adults
• Maintain a general interest in helping children in their educational process
• Calm and patient demeanor

RESPONSIBILITIES:
