Job summary

McAllen Independent School District is seeking an Instructional Coach for Mathematics (3-8) to partner with teachers and curriculum teams to raise student achievement in math. The role focuses on aligning instruction with TEKS/STAAR, supporting literacy interventions, and modeling effective math practices across campuses.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree with a valid Texas Bilingual/ESL certificate and preferably a Master’s degree.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Texas bilingual/ESL certificate required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Five years of elementary/middle school teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with appropriate core and intervention materials aligned to district/state curriculum.
• Develop math lessons aligned to standards and district scope and sequence; differentiate for diverse learners.
• Model best practices in math instruction and co-teach to demonstrate effective lesson delivery.
• Progress monitor student achievement with teachers and develop interventions.
• Create high-yield model lessons and share exemplars for future planning.
• Maintain communication with curriculum teams to support professional learning.
• Provide professional development sessions for district and campus initiatives.
• Assist with selection of math resources and instructional materials.
• Observe classrooms and conduct follow-up conferences to improve teaching practices.
• Support campus leadership teams with instructional processes and modeling.
