Job summary

Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York is seeking a Patient Care Technician in the Maternity department. You will assist the nursing team with direct patient care, admissions, transfers, discharges, and transport, while collecting vital signs and ensuring patient comfort.

The role requires at least a high school diploma or GED, BLS, and 1 year of PCT or acute care experience. This is a front-line position supporting family-centered maternity services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• AHA Basic Life Support certification.
• One year of experience as a PCT or in an acute care position.

Responsibilities

• Assist with delivery of patient care under RN direction.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges and patient transport.
• Record vital signs and report abnormalities to the nurse.
• Demonstrate competence in phlebotomy (adult) and EKG; assist with newborn screens.
• Maintain clean, stocked patient care areas and equipment.
• Communicate effectively with the health care team and document appropriately.
