Job summary

Public Health Institute (PHI) is seeking an experienced interviewer to conduct interviews with family members of women who died during pregnancy or within one year post-pregnancy. The role focuses on gathering contextual information beyond medical records while safeguarding confidentiality.

The position is part-time (≈20 hours/week, 50% FTE) with eligibility for PHI benefits. Remote work is possible; travel to CDC meetings or project offices may be required.

Qualifications

• 8 years of experience in social work, interviewing, trauma-informed communications, public health, healthcare, or related field; master's may substitute for 2 years of experience.
• 4 years of documented experience as Social Worker (MSW, LCSW, MFT, LMFT, LPC, LPCC) or Qualitative Researcher or Applied Epidemiologist (MPH/PhD) or equivalent.
• Bachelor's degree in counseling/social work/psychology or related field; or substitute with four additional years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Train PHI and CDC staff on interviewing protocols, confidentiality, bias, and trauma self-care.
• Interview preparation: outreach, review materials, identify information gaps.
• Conduct semi-structured interviews with informed consent and trauma-informed approach.
• Summarize interviews into written narratives and integrate findings into case summaries.
• Attend monthly committee meetings and assist with inquiries about family input.
• Maintain ongoing communication with PHI staff and travel as needed.
