Responsibilities

Perform high complexity, detailed exams including first trimester screening, level II ultrasound, fetal echocardiogram, amniocentesis chorionic villus sampling, and multiples.

  • Scan high risk obstetric patients under the supervision of Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) physicians. Prepare examination reports and communicate clinical information and ultrasound findings to the physician.
  • Perform high quality and comprehensive obstetric ultrasound exams in accordance with established departmental guidelines and protocols.
  • Screen during first trimester for chromosomal and structural anomalies and transvaginal assessment of cervical length. Perform fetal echocardiography.
  • Perform routine and comprehensive anatomy examinations including biophysical profiles and growth assessments.
  • Assist with ultrasound guidance during invasive procedures including genetic amniocentesis, transvaginal and transcervical chorionic villus biopsy, and fetal blood transfusion. Educate patient on the ultrasound procedure.
  • Exercise discretion and judgment in the performance of diagnostic exams. Adhere to the standard of care and maintains a safe environment.
Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

Required Credential(s):

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Medical Sonographer specializing in Obstetrics & Gynecology credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Credentialed in Fetal Echocardiography from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) within 24 months of hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's
    degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
Additional Preferences

1 yr of OBGYN, or Women's Healthexperience - preferred
