Job summary

Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates, Inc. is seeking a Project Manager for our Northern New Jersey office to lead construction materials testing for land development projects.

You will supervise technicians, prepare bids, and conduct on-site inspections while coordinating with clients and attending site meetings. The role requires a dependable, enthusiastic, detail-oriented professional capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment, with 3-5 years in related fields and a preference for

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or Geology is preferred.
• 3-5 years of field or project management experience in Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Materials Testing, or Construction Project Management
• Engineer in Training or Registered Professional Engineer preferred but not required.
• Experience managing a construction project backlog between $1-3 million.
• Experience estimating labor requirements for various types of construction projects.
• Some business development experience is a plus and must be able to interact/communicate with clients.
• Experience managing construction/field staff a plus.
• Specialty construction testing certifications a plus (ACI, NECEPT, ICC).

Responsibilities

• Manage construction materials testing services for commercial and residential land development projects.
• Coordinate, supervise, review and direct technician staff (earthwork, concrete, foundation, masonry, steel, EIFS, pavement).
• Prepare and submit bids and proposals; attend pre-bid meetings.
• Conduct on-site inspections including soil bearing, compaction, concrete, and steel.
• Meet with clients and attend site meetings as necessary.

We are seeking a Project Manager in our Northern New Jersey office. Candidate must be dependable, enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task while working in a fast-paced environment.
Assignments will include management of construction materials testing services for commercial and residential land development projects. Construction materials testing project duties will include management, coordination, supervision, review, and direction of technician staff for earthwork, concrete, foundation, masonry, steel, EIFS, and pavement construction testing. Prepare and submit bids and proposals and attend pre-bid meetings. Efficiently perform on-site project inspections including, but not limited to, soil bearing and compaction tests, concrete, and steel inspections. Meet with clients and attend site meetings, as necessary.
