Job summary

Oklo in Idaho Falls is seeking a Materials Test Engineer to plan, execute, and manage materials-testing programs supporting advanced nuclear technology development. You will define test objectives, prepare specimens, perform laboratory execution, and report findings with travel up to 10%.

The ideal candidate blends materials science fundamentals with practical test experience, capable of developing test methods, operating lab equipment, and delivering technically defensible conclusions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a materials-related field is required.
• Experience interpreting test data and preparing clear technical reports.
• Ability to lift, move objects up to 30 pounds and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Test Program Development: translate data requirements into executable tests and data-collection methods.
• Test Execution: lead or support setup, readiness reviews, specimen installation, and post-test activities.
• Data Validation and Analysis: review raw data, assess uncertainty, and compare results to requirements.
• Procurement Support: assist with selecting laboratory equipment, materials, and testing services.
• Technical Reporting: prepare test reports, materials evaluations, and conclusions.
• Laboratory Development: help establish lab capabilities, calibration, and SOPs.
