Job summary

Oerlikon in Westbury, NY is seeking a Chemist for the 1st shift (Sat-Wed) to prepare, test, and analyze materials in a Nadcap accredited laboratory. You will verify chemical, physical, and mechanical properties per internal specifications and customer requirements, while maintaining documentation and equipment calibration.

Requirements include a chemistry or materials science degree with at least one year in an industrial lab, strong computer skills, and experience with SAP and LIMS.

Qualifications

• Degree in chemistry or materials science with a minimum of one year experience in an industrial laboratory.
• Experience operating and maintaining laboratory and testing equipment.
• Proficiency with MS Office; SAP and LIMS experience preferred.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 14001, ISO/IEC 17025 or similar.
• Strong attention to detail with accurate data collection and documentation.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform standard physical, mechanical, and chemical testing on materials and products.
• Review purchase orders and certificates of analysis for raw materials.
• Inspect, test, and release materials for distribution.
• Conduct instrument verification checks, calibrations, and monitoring.
• Prepare solutions, reagents, and test documentation as required.
• Maintain accurate inspection, test, calibration, and quality records.
• Participate in round-robin and proficiency testing programs.
• Support non-standard testing and investigative work as assigned.
• Troubleshoot lab equipment and coordinate with facilities or service providers.
• Assist with installation, validation, and qualification of new equipment and software.
• Adhere to EHS policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
