Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum one year as Materials Technician 1 or two years of experience in testing of materials used in highway, bridge, building, hydraulic or similar construction projects.
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
• You must obtain a Class B CDL within initial 6-month probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Gauge Calibration: Repair and calibrate nuclear moisture and density gauges used for transportation materials testing.
• Radiation Safety: Administer dosimeter distribution and tracking and complete radiation surveys and leak tests.
• Material Testing: Prepare samples and test polymers, concrete, steel, pavement markers, and related materials.
• Field Evaluation: Operate specialized equipment to evaluate pavement marking materials for retro-reflection, color, and durability.
• Specimen Preparation: Polish metallographic samples and identify testing needs based on required specifications.
• Data Recording: Maintain logs, input testing results into electronic Construction and Materials Management System (eCAMMS).
