Job summary

Trane Technologies is seeking a Materials Team Lead to oversee a production cell, ensuring on-time HVAC equipment build and adherence to LEAN processes. The role requires leadership to train staff, enforce safety and quality, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

The position offers on-site work with opportunity to drive continuous improvements, lead meetings, and manage daily activities while supporting the production schedule.

Qualifications

  • Manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Ability to train department employees and enforce safety and quality standards.
  • Able to read and understand simple instructions and communicate them clearly.
  • Able to write simple correspondence and present information effectively.
  • Basic math and measurement skills (tape measure).
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a work cell to build engineered HVAC equipment.
  • Promote and adhere to LEAN guidelines.
  • Maintain build standards and collaborate with other teams.
  • Document daily activities and complete required paperwork on time.
  • Work with purchasing and materials teams to support production.
  • Lead meetings with team members and management as needed.

What's In It For You
  • The Materials Team Lead role is responsible for ensuring teams are actively engaged to meet daily customer demand and production schedule.
  • The Team Lead provides effective training to the department employees and ensures safety and quality standards are always maintained.
What You Will Do
  • Responsible to build engineered HVAC equipment utilizing equipment, standard work processes, work content for a specified area and lead a work cell
  • Promote and adhere to LEAN guidelines.
  • Is responsible for maintaining his/her team build standards and to work with other teams to accomplish this.
  • Follows the standards and processes set for that specific station.
  • Documents daily activities by completing takt tracker, station boards, and other standard documents as necessary
  • Turns in all required paperwork and reporting in a timely manner.
  • Effectively works with purchasing and materials personnel.
  • Assists with initiatives as needed, helping to improve the business.
  • Works closely with other technicians, other team leads, engineering, quality and safety teams in a team environment, offering insight, status information, and other support as needed.
  • Attends, contributes to, and/or leads meetings with team members and management as needed.
  • Follows company standards for build, quality, values and behaviors
  • Follows company safety policies.
  • Demonstrate positive and proactive behavior.
  • Demonstrate good leadership skills, including communicating effectively with others.
  • Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work in other company departments when needed.
What You Will Bring
  • Manufacturing leadership experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products preferred
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to use a tape measure.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Valid driver's license.

This position requires working mainly in a typical semi-conditioned shop environment and occasionally in a typical conditioned office environment. The noise level in the shop environment is usually loud. While performing the duties of this job required in the shop, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment, risk of electrical shock (high voltage), and fumes or airborne particles.
