Job summary

Wells is seeking a Materials Team Lead to coordinate daily precast concrete materials activities, oversee a team of material handlers, and partner with production, quality, maintenance and safety to ensure timely, compliant material availability.

The role emphasizes inventory control, sourcing, and cost-conscious procurement, with a focus on safety and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have purchasing or materials management experience and strong vendor relationships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum of five years of purchasing or materials management experience.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control, procurement processes and supply chain operations.
  • Experience with Oracle or similar ERP systems or ability to learn quickly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across departments and with vendors.
  • Forklift operation experience or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Knowledge of production processes and field operations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance and condition of facilities, offices, and yards.
  • Manage receiving, storage, and staging of materials for production.
  • Verify incoming shipments for accuracy and condition.
  • Maintain inventory records and system entry in Oracle.
  • Monitor stock levels and reorder materials to meet demands.
  • Coordinate material needs with Production, Field Ops, and Engineering.
  • Source vendors, negotiate pricing and issue purchase orders.
  • Review supplier performance and costs to optimize sourcing.
  • Approve invoices within authority and keep records.
  • Operate forklifts as needed and support shipping activities.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Materials Team Lead is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the daily activities related to precast concrete materials including receiving inventory quality control material preparation and distribution to production teams This role leads a team of material handlers and works closely with production quality maintenance and safety personnel to ensure materials are available on time and meet project and company requirements Salary range insert amount here Based on location and experience

WHAT YOULL DO

Oversee maintenance and condition of company facilities including office maintenance quality buildings and yard areasManage receiving storage and staging of materials to support production and field operationsVerify incoming shipments for accuracy documentation condition and proper identificationMaintain accurate inventory records and ensure timely system entry in OracleMonitor stock levels and reorder materials to meet operational demandsCoordinate material needs and schedules with Production Field Operations and Engineering teamsSource vendors negotiate pricing and terms and issue purchase ordersEvaluate supplier performance pricing and quality to optimize procurement decisionsReview purchasing requests and perform cost analysis to support efficient sourcingApprove invoices within authority limits and maintain accurate purchasing recordsOperate forklifts as needed for material handling and storageSupport shipping activities vendor communications and additional duties as required

WORKING CONDITIONSPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
