Job summary

Wells Concrete is seeking a detail‑oriented Parts Kitter to gather, organize, inspect, and deliver materials for precast production. Expect duties spanning receiving, storage, inventory control, and coordinating with production and field teams.

The ideal candidate has five+ years in purchasing or materials management, strong ERP and negotiation skills, and a proactive, organized mindset to support efficient sourcing and safe operations at our Texas facilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Minimum of five years of purchasing or materials management experience required.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control, procurement processes, and supply chain operations.
  • Experience with Oracle or similar ERP systems, or ability to learn quickly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across departments and with vendors.
  • Familiarity with receiving and shipping documentation and procedures.
  • Forklift operation experience or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Knowledge of production processes and field operations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance and condition of company facilities, including office, maintenance, quality buildings, and yard areas.
  • Manage receiving, storage, and staging of materials to support production and field operations.
  • Verify incoming shipments for accuracy, documentation, condition, and proper identification.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure timely system entry in Oracle.
  • Monitor stock levels and reorder materials to meet operational demands.
  • Coordinate material needs and schedules with Production, Field Operations, and Engineering teams.
  • Source vendors, negotiate pricing and terms, and issue purchase orders.
  • Evaluate supplier performance, pricing, and quality to optimize procurement decisions.
  • Review purchasing requests and perform cost analysis to support efficient sourcing.
  • Approve invoices within authority limits and maintain accurate purchasing records.
  • Operate forklifts as needed for material handling and storage.
  • Support shipping activities, vendor communications, and additional duties as required.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Parts Kitter is responsible for gathering, organizing, inspecting, and delivering the materials and components required for precast concrete production. This position ensures that production crews have the correct parts, hardware, embeds, reinforcing materials, and supplies available according to production schedules, shop drawings, and work orders.

This is a start time between 11am-12pm.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Occasional visits to active plant and field locations are required based on operational needs.
  • Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required while in the plant and field.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and navigate active plant and field environments as needed.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, walk on uneven surfaces, and safely move through industrial work areas.
  • May be exposed to moving equipment, machinery, and other standard industrial hazards.
  • May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, as well as noise, dust, and vibration.
