1 REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Reports to the Production Control Manager.
2 PURPOSE
2.1 Function
2.1.1 Supervise and manage the Material Handlers and materials needed for projects in their organization.
2.1.2 Motivate the work force to meet requirements while maintaining a safe work environment.
2.1.3 Lead team to continuous improvement at all times.
2.1.4 Develop / empower Team Leaders and Material Handlers to excel and to improve themselves and DAC.
2.1.5 Address all substandard performance issues.
2.1.6 To lead by example, not words.
2.1.7 Maintain professional manner at all times.
2.2 Authority
2.2.1 To monitor and enforce policies and procedures that governs the Production Control Department. Ensure that all policies are being carried out consistently between all Material Handlers.
2.2.2 To assign, direct, coach, discipline associates as necessary to accomplish assigned tasks.
3 Duties And Responsibilities
3.1 Oversee processes and security to ensure flow of materials meets delivery and production goals;
3.2 Reduce obsolescence and waste of materials;
3.3 Analyze and plan for materials with unusual lead times or storage needs;
3.4 Inventory and audit all existing materials regularly, accounting for transit and shortfalls;
3.5 Supervise, motivate, and evaluate employees to reach goals and document inventory transactions;
3.6 Create a participative management environment;
3.7 Meet production schedules, while finding ways to improve efficiency and reduce cost;
3.8 Maintain a safe work environment for self and associates
3.9 Train/cross train new and existing associates.
3.10 Push for continuous improvements in safety, quality, cost, attendance, 5S, etc.
3.11 Assemble / Lead cross functional teams to address production issues (i.e.: Morning Market, Q-UP, etc.)
3.12 Create / maintain a proactive environment, not a reactive.
3.13 Other duties as assigned.
4 MEASUREMENTS/COMPETENCIES
4.1 Cost (Eff. / TPU).
4.2 Consumable supply cost.
4.3 Scrap Cost.
4.4 Quality (EOL defects, teardown, and first time through %).
4.5 Employee morale (5S performance / Attendance).
4.6 Safety record.
4.7 On-time deliveries.
4.8 Well-trained and flexible (cross trained) work force.
5 SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITY
5.1 Direct Relationships
5.1.1 Supervises Material Handlers and Material Handler Team Leaders as assigned.
5.2 Indirect Relationships
5.2.1 Will interface with customers, corporate engineering, Sales, Purchasing, Finance, Quality, Human Resources, industrial relations, local community officials, technical and trade organizations.
Requirements
6 WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional environment, as well as a manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. This role also is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
7 Qualifications
7.1 Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in in a high volume-manufacturing environment; preferably with an automotive industry supplier.
7.2 Warehouse management experience (forklift equipment, etc.); traffic and logistics background; experience with shipping and receiving; material handling; operations experience is a plus.
7.3 Proven track record of motivating employees.
7.4 Understanding of modern materials methods including single piece flow and JIT methods is necessary.
7.5 Ability to train all levels of employees.
7.6 Track record of meeting production schedules.
7.7 Must be safety conscious.
7.8 Ability to motivate associates to better themselves and DAC.
8 PHYSICAL DEMANDS
8.1 Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
8.2 Must be able to lift 20 pounds at times.
8.3 Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
9 POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. This position may require extended hours and possible weekend work.
10 TRAVEL
Travel to vendor and customer worksites may be required.
