Job summary

California Lottery is seeking a Materials and Stores Specialist to supervise receiving, storing, and shipping Lottery Scratchers tickets, POS, office equipment, supplies, and premium merchandise in a redistribution warehouse. The MSS may lead a team and assist a higher-level supervisor, with lifting up to 50 pounds as part of duties.

Position is headquartered in West Sacramento, CA, 7:00AM–3:30PM, Monday–Friday, with overtime as needed; telework is not available.

• At least two years of experience in a supply room or warehouse handling a large volume of varied commodities.

Job description

Materials and Stores Specialist (MSS) is under the supervision of the Warehouse Manager and/or Materials and Stores Supervisor. The MSS is the lead person responsible for receiving, storing and shipping Lottery Scratchers® tickets, Point of Sale (POS), office equipment, supplies, and premium merchandise requiring moderately complex storage practices in a redistribution warehouse. The MSS is also responsible for assuming equivalent duties and responsibilities in assisting a higher-level warehouse supervisor. The M&S Specialist may be required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

Working Conditions

• Schedule: 7:00AM – 3:30PM (Monday through Friday)/ Overtime, including Saturday & Sunday, when operationally needed.
• Travel: Travel is limited. Typically, travel is required for less than one week per year.
• Other: The MSS must possess a valid Class C California driver’s license. This license must allow operation of any two-axle vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 26,000 pounds or less, in order to perform the essential duties of the position.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• At least two years of experience in a supply room or warehouse in work involving the receipt and issuance of a large volume of varied commodities.
• Experience leading lower-level staff in the receipt, storage, issuance, and shipping of a volume of varied supplies requiring moderately complex storage practices in a redistribution or point-of-use warehouse or supply room.
• Knowledge of and ability to follow safety protocols on lifting and carrying weight upward of 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in an environment that requires the incumbent to be free from sensitivity to normal warehouse conditions, including heat, cold, dust, and/or other debris.
• Knowledge of methods of taking inventories and maintaining inventory records.
