Job summary

Teragen Energy in Utah seeks an experienced Materials Scientist/Engineer to drive the solid oxide fuel cell materials from lab-scale concepts toward a manufacturable, scalable product.

You will own materials characterization, processing development, and new materials studies for all cell and stack components, including seals and interconnects, reporting to the CTO and collaborating with the Cell Development Team.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Materials Science, Ceramic Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with materials characterization techniques (SEM, TGA/DTA, dilatometry, PSD, BET).
  • Ability to translate materials learning into manufacturable product decisions.
  • Comfort bridging materials science with hardware requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead materials characterization and focused studies, including failure analysis and materials/process tradeoffs; own raw material quality control.
  • Develop cell and stack materials from composition and processing through characterization and production-ready specs.
  • Collaborate on scale-up, degradation analysis, failure diagnosis, and process improvements.
  • Partner with Mechanical and Test Engineering to ensure manufacturability and test results across the technology.
  • Design and execute experimental plans with documented observations and actionable recommendations.
