Job summary

Formlabs is seeking a Materials Scientist - Photopolymer Development in Somerville, MA. You will design and optimize photopolymer formulations and lead material transitions from lab concept to commercial launch, ensuring they meet strict product specifications for the Form 4 platform.

Candidates should have a strong background in polymer science with hands-on lab experience, data-driven decision making, and the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Qualifications

  • PhD preferred but BS/MS accepted in polymer science, chemical engineering, chemistry or materials science.
  • Experience developing thermoset materials (epoxies, urethanes, acrylates).
  • Strong lab skills, data-driven decision making, and ability to document results.

Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize photopolymer formulations for additive manufacturing.
  • Lead end-to-end material transitions from lab to commercial launch.
  • Characterize structure–property relationships to meet product specs.
  • Collaborate with product, hardware, and software teams for Form 4 platform compatibility.
