Job summary

Formlabs in Boston is seeking a Materials Scientist to build world-class SLS materials from initial lab explorations through validation and commercialization. You will lead research on SLS material performance, partnering with product, hardware, and software teams to iteratively improve formulations based on customer feedback.

A strong drive for testing, data-driven decisions, and autonomous learning is essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience bringing a new material to market from ideation to production.
  • Solid understanding of materials science and polymer product development.
  • Hands-on thermo-plastic engineering and material testing experience.
  • Data-driven mindset with ability to design and conduct experiments to optimize materials.
  • Strong documentation and autonomous learning ethic.

Responsibilities

  • Build world-class SLS materials for 3D printing from lab explorations to validation and commercialization.
  • Lead research to push SLS material performance and translate discoveries into next-gen solutions.
  • Partner with product, hardware and software teams to iterate material performance from customer feedback.
  • Develop methodologies to evaluate material formulations coordinating with SLS printing systems.

Your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location and expected impact on the organization.The annual base pay range for this role is:$75,000—$130,000 USD
