Job summary

Medical Device Company is seeking a Materials Scientist 1 in Franklin Lakes, NJ for a 12+ month contract. The role requires a BS in Materials Science or Chemistry and hands-on experience with characterization tools. You will prepare samples, develop test protocols, review documentation, and maintain lab equipment.

The position is 40 hours per week on the first shift, paying $20–$30 per hour on a W2 contract. US Citizens or GC holders only; H-1B not allowed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, or related discipline.
• Strong understanding of material structure–property relationships.
• Hands-on experience with analytical/material characterization instrumentation (INSTRON, DSC/TGA, DMA, FTIR, UV‑VIS).
• Experience with wet laboratory equipment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• MS/PhD in materials science or chemistry (preferred).
• Knowledge in blood biology and clinical assays (preferred).
• Proficiency with Minitab (preferred).
• Experience in design of experiments (preferred).
• Strong written and verbal communication across technical teams (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Conduct material/chemical characterizations to support Specimen.
• Prepare samples/prototypes for internal or external analysis.
• Develop and execute test protocols and document results promptly.
• Review documentation for accuracy.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and facilities.
