Job description

Materials R&D Lab Technician

Reporting to the Manager of Technical Services, this position is responsible for conducting the mixing and testing of experimental polymeric compound formulation. This work is conducted under the direction of Polymer Engineers and industry/customer specifications and internal procedures.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Maintain a safe laboratory environment by complying with safety rules and procedures.
2. Perform polymeric compound mixing and test sample preparation.
3. Perform physical, chemical, and electrical property testing on compound samples.
4. Perform physical, chemical, and electrical property testing on cable samples.
5. Maintain records and issue reports on test results generated.
6. Active participation in ITC Tech Service activities such as facility and equipment maintenance, housekeeping, safety audits, etc.
7. Occasional manual lifting up to 50 pounds.
8. Able to lift and carry by hand various tools, materials, containers usually small to moderate in size.
9. Occasional use of manual material handling equipment such as dollies, carts, and pallet jacks to push, pull, and/or move heavy loads short distances.

Education:

Preferred Associates Degree in Polymer Technology or related engineering or technical field.
