Job summary

Moseley Technical Services, Inc. is seeking a Materials & Processes Engineer in Auburn, WA to support metallurgy and aerospace materials development, qualification, and manufacturing processes.

You will focus on materials engineering, failure analysis, laboratory testing, and process control while ensuring compliance with aerospace standards. You will qualify new materials, review supplier documentation, and work with cross‑functional teams to meet program goals.

Qualifications

  • US Citizenship Required
  • ABET accreditation preferred but not required
  • Minimum 2+ years of professional engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 2+ years with a Master's degree
  • Minimum 2+ years of aerospace engineering experience
  • Experience with materials engineering, metallurgy, manufacturing processes, or materials qualification activities
  • Knowledge of metals, alloys, coatings, heat treatment, welding, joining techniques
  • Experience with laboratory testing, investigations, or production support
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; compliance with EHS, LEAN, and quality principles

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and revise material specifications, process controls, and acceptance criteria for metals, alloys, coatings, heat treatments, and joining processes
  • Support definition, qualification, and deployment of materials, processes, tooling, equipment, and components for aerospace products
  • Plan, coordinate, and perform metallurgical testing and materials characterization (microstructure, hardness, tensile, fracture toughness, corrosion, NDI)
  • Investigate manufacturing failures via root cause analysis and CAPA
  • Qualify new materials, processes, tooling, and equipment to meet specs and regulatory requirements
  • Review supplier material certifications and lab reports for compliance
  • Assist in supplier qualification activities and evaluate material/process performance
  • Maintain materials/process databases and engineering docs
  • Utilize project management tools to support cost, schedule, and technical objectives
  • Incorporate EHS, LEAN, and Quality into lab operations and manufacturing support
  • Present technical findings and recommendations to cross-functional teams
