Job summary

Moseley Technical Services, Inc. seeks a Materials & Processes Engineer – Metallurgy / Aerospace Manufacturing in Auburn, WA to support development, qualification, and implementation of aerospace materials and metallurgical technologies.

The role focuses on materials engineering, metallurgy, failure analysis, supplier qualification, laboratory testing, process control, and manufacturing support while ensuring compliance with aerospace quality, environmental, and engineering standards.

Qualifications

  • US Citizenship required.
  • ABET accreditation preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 2+ years of professional engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum 2+ years of aerospace engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting materials engineering, metallurgy, manufacturing processes, or materials qualification activities.
  • Knowledge of metals, metal alloys, coatings, heat treatment, welding, brazing, adhesive bonding, and mechanical joining techniques.
  • Experience supporting laboratory testing or production support activities.
  • Commitment to environmental, health, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and revise material specifications, process controls, and acceptance criteria for metals, alloys, coatings, heat treatments, and joining processes.
  • Support qualification and deployment of materials, processes, tooling, equipment, and components for aerospace product development and production.
  • Plan, coordinate, and perform metallurgical testing and materials characterization: microstructure, hardness, tensile, fracture toughness, corrosion, NDI.
  • Investigate manufacturing failures with root cause analysis and CAPA.
  • Qualify new materials, processes, tooling, and equipment to meet engineering, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Review supplier material certifications and lab reports for compliance with specifications.
  • Assist in supplier qualification activities and evaluate material/process performance.
  • Maintain materials/process databases, documentation, and technical reports.
  • Use project management tools to support cost, schedule, and technical objectives.
  • Apply EHS, LEAN, and Quality principles in lab operations and manufacturing support.
  • Present technical findings and recommendations to cross-functional teams.
