Job summary

Precision Castparts is seeking a Metallurgist to supervise metallurgical aspects of our processes and drive continual improvement. The role includes root cause analyses, writing manufacturing plans, and communicating with customers, suppliers, and certifying agencies to ensure conformance to specifications.

The candidate will work with heat treat, pyrometry, and aerospace forging products, maintain QA documentation, and support a 24/7 operation in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Materials Science with minimum 1 year of manufacturing experience.
• Knowledge of aerospace alloy groups (Ni-based superalloys, Ti, Al, steel).
• Experience with heat treat, pyrometry and aerospace forging products preferred.
• Knowledge of NADCAP/AS9001 and AMS2750E Pyrometry.
• Familiarity with ASTM/ASM/AISI/SAE/MIL standards.
• Experience working with quality specs of major aerospace customers.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and plan metallurgical aspects of the process.
• Perform root cause and corrective action analyses for nonconforming products.
• Write manufacturing plans and metallurgical reports for customer approval.
• Communicate with customers, suppliers, and certifying agencies.
• Maintain external customer relationships for technical issue resolution.
• Support 24/7 operations and continuous improvement initiatives.
