Job summary

Akkodis is seeking a Material Planning & Supplier Management Specialist in Waltham, MA for a 12-month contract. The role focuses on end-to-end material planning, supplier coordination, procurement visibility, and project material readiness to support safe, efficient project execution.

The candidate will collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, Procurement, Inventory, Warehousing, and suppliers, while supporting supplier performance, QA/QC, reporting, analytics, and process improvement.

Qualifications

• 3–7 years of experience in materials management, supply chain, procurement, supplier management, engineering support, or utility operations.
• Experience supporting capital projects within electric utilities, energy, construction, manufacturing, or infrastructure environments.
• Strong experience with material planning, forecasting, ordering, expediting, tracking, and delivery coordination.
• Experience managing supplier communications, commitments, schedules, production updates, delivery risks, and issue resolution.
• Strong supplier relationship management and supplier performance monitoring skills.
• Advanced proficiency in SAP, including SAP Material Management (MM) processes.
• Experience with SAP Ariba procurement and supplier management systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for material tracking, analysis, and reporting.
• Experience developing dashboards, reports, KPIs, and material/supplier performance metrics.
• Power BI, Tableau, or similar data visualization experience preferred.
• Experience supporting inventory, warehouse, depot, yard, logistics, and field material management.
• Knowledge of QA/QC, supplier non-conformance, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and quality performance tracking.
• Ability to identify material shortages, supplier delays, and project risks and develop mitigation plans.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with process improvement, RACI development, governance, and standard operating procedures.

Pay Rate: $50/hr. - $55/hr. On W2 (The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors)

Summary

The Material Planning & Supplier Management Specialist will serve as the operational point of contact for end-to-end material planning, supplier coordination, procurement visibility, and project material readiness. This role will work closely with Engineering, Project Management, Procurement, Inventory, Warehousing, Field Materials, and suppliers to ensure materials are available on time to support safe and efficient project execution. The position will also support supplier performance, QA/QC, reporting, analytics, and continuous process improvement.

Required Skills

Education

• Equivalent utility industry experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.

Preferred Skills

• Electric utility experience supporting transmission, distribution, or substation projects.
• Knowledge of utility materials such as electrical equipment, cable, transformers, switchgear, protection and control equipment, and construction materials.
• Experience with supplier performance management programs, supplier audits, quality reviews, and corrective action programs.
• Knowledge of utility warehouse, logistics, and field material operations.
