Job summary

The Confidential (a global manufacturing business) in the Greater Chicago Area is seeking a Materials Planning & Logistics Manager to lead materials, planning and logistics at a high-volume production site.

This hands-on leadership role requires building and developing a large team, driving on-time delivery, inventory accuracy and cost control while partnering with Operations and Quality to meet customer demand and launches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business or related.
• 5+ years in materials, planning or logistics within manufacturing.
• 3+ years leading teams, ideally including supervisors.
• Lean manufacturing experience (PFEP, kanban, replenishment systems).
• Strong ERP skills (SAP) and Excel.
• High-volume manufacturing background is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead all materials and logistics functions: production planning, inventory control, shipping, receiving and transportation.
• Manage and develop a large team through supervisors and managers.
• Deliver on OTD, inventory accuracy, inventory turns and fill rate.
• Plan capacity and material flow to meet customer demand and new business launches.
• Drive Lean improvements across material flow, replenishment and standard work.
• Work closely with Production, Quality and Operations leadership.
• Manage carrier relationships and freight costs.
• Keep a strong safety culture in areas with powered industrial trucks.
