Job summary

CJ Schwan’s in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Materials Planner to ensure timely availability of materials for production. You will plan, schedule, and track inbound materials, while collaborating with Purchasing, Production, and Engineering to drive efficiency and meet customer commitments.

The role requires knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. Competitive salary and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree; or 3 years in material planning
• Experience with SAP or ERP systems
• Strong organizational and analytical skills

Responsibilities

• Plan and procure ingredients and packaging materials based on production schedules.
• Create and manage purchase orders and invoices; partner with Accounts Payable.
• Maintain supplier relationships; resolve service, delivery, and quality issues.
• Monitor inventory and manage aging materials; collaborate with Production Scheduling, R&D, Procurement, and suppliers.
• Analyze demand, inventory, and supply trends to adjust order quantities and delivery schedules.
• Coordinate inbound material deliveries with transportation providers and warehouse teams; track POs from shipment to receipt.
• Collaborate with QA, suppliers, and Accounting to resolve material quality concerns and recover costs.
• Maintain SAP material and vendor master data (materials, pricing, vendor records, info records, source lists, new item setup).
• Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers for storage and handling.
• Develop material planning strategies to prevent stockouts and reduce freight costs.
• Coordinate material qualification and testing with R&D, QA, Procurement, and Operations.
