Job summary

Copeland in Kennesaw, GA is seeking a Materials Manager to lead materials planning, purchasing, and inventory control for the Kennesaw Controls Solutions facility. You will manage a team of ~13 and partner with Production, Engineering, Sales, and Procurement to ensure uninterrupted material availability.

The role requires hands-on supply chain leadership, data-driven decision making, and experience with ERP/MRP systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, Engineering, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in materials management, production planning, supply chain, inventory management, purchasing, or procurement in manufacturing.
• Experience leading teams within purchasing, planning, materials management, inventory control, or supply chain operations.
• Strong experience using ERP/MRP systems for supply planning, inventory management, forecasting, and procurement.

Responsibilities

• Lead all materials management, purchasing, planning, inventory control, stockroom, and inbound logistics activities for the Kennesaw facility.
• Manage and develop a team of approximately 13 employees, including buyers, planners, supervisors, and stockroom personnel.
• Serve as the primary site leader for materials planning and inventory strategy to ensure uninterrupted supply for demand and production.
• Partner with Production, Manufacturing, Engineering, Project Management, Sales, and Supply Chain teams to align planning with business objectives.
• Use Oracle and other ERP/MRP systems to manage demand planning, supply planning, inventory optimization, and material flow.
• Drive continuous improvement focused on inventory turns, forecast accuracy, service levels, supplier performance, and efficiency.
• Work with S&OP to support demand planning, forecast reviews, capacity discussions, long-range planning.
• Collaborate with Corporate Procurement and Global Sourcing for supplier strategies and cost containment.
• Manage supplier relationships across domestic, international, and intercompany suppliers, including Mexico and Italy operations.
• Analyze material requirements, supplier constraints, and risks to preempt disruptions.
• Lead efforts to reduce excess and obsolete inventory while maintaining service levels.
• Support Kanban, pull systems, consignment programs, and lean replenishment strategies.
• Monitor KPIs such as inventory turns, delivery performance, shortages, backlog, forecast attainment, and service metrics.
• Present planning strategies and performance metrics to site and senior leadership.
