Job summary

Progress Rail Services Corp. in Sidney, Nebraska is seeking a Materials Manager to oversee inventory control, cycle counts, and material compliance for production and customer contracts.

You will optimize stock levels, review planned orders, and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Logistics or related field (or equivalent), 5+ years in inventory control, and 3+ years in supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics or related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience considered.
• 5+ years of experience in inventory control and/or management.
• 3+ years' experience managing the work of others.
• Experience forecasting and budgeting.
• Experience and knowledge of purchasing process.
• Experience using SAP or other related software.
• Strong negotiation and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication skills required.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Microsoft Office skills required.

Responsibilities

• Learn and understand the material within the PR facility (part numbers, sizes, etc).
• Orders material for production, reviewing planned orders and current inventories and issues purchase orders.
• Manages Inventory Cycle Counts; ensures accuracy.
• Serves as backup for indirect purchases; places orders for shop floor needs.
• Works with Sales to help with Sales Contracts and fix customer issues in LN.
• Manage inventory counts and report on inventory; review planned orders.
• Issue purchase orders as needed to maintain production flow.
• Segregate and store material with forklift and other machinery; maintain safety.
• Train and develop direct reports and hold these direct reports accountable; manage vendors.
