Expected Outcomes and Requirements:

Gateway is hiring a Materials Manager to lead and build this critical function that is foundational to the company achieving its short-term and long-term plans. This leader is expected to contribute in the following significant ways:

  • Manage a materials budget of more than $20 million
  • Develop and manage a material planning and forecasting process with input from the sales, operations, and finance teams, and in turn secure supply from vendors
  • Mitigate supply risk to maintain zero material stock-outs that could disrupt construction schedules or customer installs
  • Work closely with construction teams on a weekly and daily basis to ensure the material they need is readily available
  • Lead implementation and maintenance of procurement processes and ERP system utilization
  • Implement and manage an inventory tracking process and system to track material movement from Gateway’s warehouse to construction vendors to placement in-service
  • Manage a safe, organized and clean warehouse that has zero workplace injuries
  • Evaluating suppliers based on deliver speed for their products, services, price and quality
  • Interviewing vendors and visiting existing supplier distribution centers and plants to examine, and learn about prices, products and services
  • Negotiating contracts for the organization and working out agreements with suppliers for product delivery
  • Meeting with vendors and staff to discuss unacceptable and defective products and establish corrective action
  • Evaluating and monitoring contracts to ensure suppliers and vendors are complying with terms and conditions
  • Maintaining and reviewing records of inventories, products performance, deliveries, costs, and items purchased
  • Analyzing financial reports, price proposals, and other information used to determine reasonable pricing

The successful candidate will bring the following to the table:

  • Natural initiator to take ownership of the materials management function, to ask for help, and to seek collaboration
  • Strong process orientation to develop, document and communicate processes from scratch
  • Strong background in using and implementing ERP systems for procurement
  • Strong analytical skills to help inform decisions on purchasing and supply chain
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Previous supply chain, purchasing, operations, and/or finance experience is a preferred
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Relevant work experience in a comparable role
  • Microsoft Office suite proficiency
  • Ability to sit or stand at a workstation for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to lift 15 pounds at times
