Job summary

USPI Fish Pond Surgery Center, a USPI facility, seeks a full-time Materials Manager to oversee medical inventory, stocking, and coordination with the surgical team. The role supports patient care within state standards and policies and adapts to the day-to-day flow of the operating schedule.

The position requires a high school graduate and experience in medical materials management, with strong math, customer service, and computer skills.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Previous medical or hospital materials management experience preferred; scrub techs welcome.
• Strong customer service background.
• Strong math and counting skills required.
• Type minimum of 40 wpm preferred.
• Computer experience required (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word and Excel preferred).

Responsibilities

• Orders and maintains all medical inventory.
• Performs quarterly inventory accounting.
• Checks in supplies on arrival, delivers to location, accounts for back orders, and prepares paperwork for Administrator.
• Adheres to Center policies and demonstrates fiscal responsibility.
• Follows standards for peri-operative nursing care as guided by policies.
• Maintains aseptic technique and proper scrub technique; prepares equipment and OR materials.
• Uses proper body mechanics and aseptic technique.
• Follows OSHA and other standards for protection against pathogens and fluids.
• Participates in activities that promote professional growth and teamwork.
• Communicates with Administrator or Manager about day-to-day situations.
• Follows staffing and employee health policies.

Job description

USPIFish PondSurgery Center, is seeking a motivated Full Time Materials Manager to join our team. We have 5 OR rooms and 1 Treatment room. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in General, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic, Otolaryngology, Plastics, Podiatry, Urology. Position requires weekdays only -- no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day.

JOB SUMMARY

The Materials Manager is responsible for the process, which includes inventory control: ordering all medical supplies, maintaining an appropriate inventory of all medical supplies, receiving and stocking of all medical supplies to their assigned area. Provides support to the surgical team and provides patient care within the prevailing state standards of practice and according to the policies of the facility. Communicates appropriate information to other team members.

Duties and Responsibilities include

• Orders and maintains all medical inventory.
• Performs Quarterly Inventory accounting.
• When supplies arrive at the facility, checks in all supplies per invoice and purchase order, delivers all supplies to appropriate location, accounts for all back orders, and prepares required paperwork for Administrator.
• Knows and adheres to policies of the Center and demonstrates fiscal responsibility.
• Follows standards, policies, procedures, goals and objectives for peri-operative nursing care according to accepted standards.
• Maintains and demonstrates current skills and knowledge in aseptic technique, proper scrub technique, cleaning and preparation of equipment and operating room.
• Uses good body mechanics and aseptic technique
• Follows OSHA and other standards for protection against blood borne pathogens and body fluids.
• Seeks involvement in activities that promote professional growth and behavior.
• Remains calm and functions as a team member during times of stress and crisis situations.
• Informs Administrator and/or Manager of applicable day-to-day situations.
• Follows employee health and other personnel and staffing policies.
