Job Summary

We are seeking a driven Materials Manager to be a vital contributor to the success of the Pasadena, TX production facility for SBM Life Sciences. This role involves leading the team to coordinate material handling activities, including inventory control, processing, packaging, planning, logistics, and storage of supplies, materials, and equipment. The position requires a hands-on leadership style, strong floor presence, and financial business acumen.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or Transportation
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in production planning, inventory control, logistics, transportation, and/or warehousing environments
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of production processes, raw materials, quality control, costs, and safety
  • Previous experience using a formal ERP Warehouse Management System, preferably SAGE
  • Experience in CI, TPM, Lean, and/or 5S
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and priorities
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact well with internal and external customers
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, ERP, and other computer systems
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently managing multiple projects to meet deadlines
  • Self-starter, highly motivated to identify problems and take corrective actions
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, tactical, and strategic thinking skills
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Oversee inventory control, warehousing, transportation, logistics planning, and customer service
  • Ensure compliance with standards, policies, and procedures; develop strategies to serve customers better
  • Develop team members, promote employee engagement, and reward productivity
  • Lead safety programs, drive continuous improvement, and ensure succession planning
  • Build relationships with vendors and suppliers
  • Resolve logistics service issues
  • Collaborate on network design and KPI initiatives; report on site performance
  • Manage redesign projects, capital projects, and vendor changes to improve safety, costs, and performance
  • Meet or exceed performance standards related to cost, service, inventory, and logistics activities
  • Lead inventory control processes, including real-time work order processing, variance reporting, and cycle counts
