Job summary

Dover Food Retail (DFR) seeks a Lead- Materials for 1st Shift (6am-2:30pm) in South Chesterfield, Virginia. The role oversees production activities, guides team members to safety, efficiency and quality, and coordinates with maintenance and safety practices to keep operations running smoothly.

The position requires hands-on leadership, knowledge of lean methods, and strong communication to ensure adherence to SOPs, quality standards, and production plans.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and organizes all operation activities during normal production for the responsible area.
• Leads all team members to implement production safely, efficiently, and accurately based on safety regulations, SOPs, checklists, and production plans.
• Assists with implementation of lean methodology and/or health, safety & environment practices.
• Coordinates maintenance issues with the maintenance department and oversees safety during maintenance if necessary.
• Communicates with team members on all issues.
• Provides performance evaluation input to supervisor.
• May work as a backup to positions in a shift group.
• Training, delegating and reviewing the work of lower level employees.
• Problems are typically difficult and non-routine but not complex.
