Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Laboratory Technician to transform field samples into precise test results within a documented AASHTO R18 quality system. You will perform standard tests, log data, and ensure calibration and chain of custody for every result that leaves the lab.

You will work in a facility-based role serving the Columbia, SC region, with daytime hours and potential overtime during peak seasons.

Qualifications

• Careful hands, clean documentation habits, and mechanical aptitude are essential.
• Lab experience is a plus, but training is provided.
• Comfortable with repetitive precision work and maintaining accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Perform ASTM D698, D1557, D2216, D4318, C136, and C39 testing
• Maintain calibration, standardization, and quality records
• Log samples and preserve chain of custody
• Break cylinders and report strength results on the same day
• Support proficiency sample programs and accreditation assessments
