Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking Laboratory Technicians to convert field samples into numbers under an AASHTO R18 quality system. You'll perform standard concrete and soil tests, log samples, and maintain calibration and chain of custody.

Work includes breaking cylinders, reporting strength results, and supporting proficiency programs; training is provided. Pay is $25–$35 per hour with daytime hours and overtime in peak seasons, with occasional field sampling support as needed.

Qualifications

• Careful hands and clean documentation habits are essential.
• Prior lab or CMT experience is a plus but training is provided.
• Comfortable with repetitive precision work and following a documented quality system.

Responsibilities

• Perform ASTM testing as listed (D698, D1557, D2216, D4318, C136, C39).
• Maintain calibration, standardization, and quality records.
• Log samples and preserve chain of custody.
• Break cylinders and report strength results on schedule.
• Support proficiency sample programs and accreditation assessments.
