Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking a Materials Engineering Technician to join the Materials and Process Technology (MPT) team in Detroit. The role provides laboratory support from ideation through end of life to ensure requirements are met for heavy-duty powertrain components.

You will perform materials characterization and failure analysis, assist with lab equipment maintenance, and contribute to inventory and quality initiatives.

Qualifications

• 3 years of relevant experience or AA degree + 1 year of relevant experience.
• Familiarity with heavy-duty powertrain components.
• Familiarity with heavy-duty sectioning equipment such as industrial band saws, enclosed chop saws, and other industrial equipment and environments.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to follow complex work plans.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for DTNA Materials Engineers conducting materials characterization and/or failure analysis investigations via testing, sectioning, and sample preparation of heavy-duty powertrain components.
• Support laboratory equipment preventative maintenance programs.
• Support laboratory processes such as inventory management, consumable purchases, quality initiatives, etc.
