Job summary

Terracon is seeking a safety-conscious field technician in Baton Rouge to perform field and laboratory testing of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel. You will communicate with the Project Manager, transport samples, and prepare reports while maintaining equipment and adhering to safety standards.

Under supervision you will assist with testing, document findings, and gradually take on more responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months experience required.
• A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.
• Obtain ACI certification within 90 days of hire.
• Nuclear Density Gauge certification within 6 months of hire (preferred).
• Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist on tasks and perform basic testing and observations duties under close supervision.
• Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
• Communicate information to Project Manager and discuss data accuracy before submittal.
• Submit documentation and communicate results as directed by the Project Manager.
• Progressively increase training and responsibility in work assignments.
• Maintain assigned equipment and follow safety rules and practices.
