Job summary

TTL is seeking a Construction Materials Laboratory Technician in Tuscaloosa, AL. You will perform lab testing following ASTM and AASHTO procedures on soils, aggregates, fly ash, concrete and related materials.

Responsibilities include data compilation, calculations, instrument maintenance and calibration, and adherence to safety protocols. The role requires clear communication and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; standard work hours are M-F 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; college coursework or degree preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Clear written and oral communication.
• Maintain accurate records and laboratory data.

Responsibilities

• Develop skills for specialized laboratory testing.
• Compile accurate data, reports and analyses.
• Perform calculations using basic math.
• Maintain laboratory instruments and equipment per ASTM standards.
• Apply correct techniques per industry standards (e.g., ASTM AASHTO).
• Calibrate testing equipment as required and keep calibration records.
• Respond to proficiency testing non-conformities.
• Perform tests during on-site assessments by AMRL and CCRL.
• Participate in safety meetings and follow safety protocols.
