Job summary

The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State is seeking a Materials Coordinator to support the Supply Chain Department. This on-site role focuses on inventory control, procurement coordination, and documentation across cross-functional teams.

You will work with engineering, program management, manufacturing, procurement, property management, security, QA, and finance to resolve material availability and scheduling issues, while ensuring compliance with FAR/DFARS, ITAR/EAR, and university

Qualifications

• Experience in physical/digital inventory management in manufacturing, lab, or engineering environments.
• Hands-on MRP/ERP experience (item masters, BOMs, transactions, multi-location inventory).
• Digitizing, standardizing, and centralizing technical/inventory documentation with accuracy.
• Working knowledge of purchase requisitions, PO tracking, supplier/cost data, and vendor coordination.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with engineers and government property personnel; manage priorities.
• Current eligibility for access to classified information at the Secret level or higher.

Responsibilities

• Support procurement by coordinating with suppliers, buyers, engineering, and program teams to obtain materials.
• Organize warehouses, stockrooms, and secure storage to maximize inventory accuracy and efficiency.
• Maintain accurate electronic records supporting inventory management, procurement, property accountability, shipping, receiving, quality assurance, and audits.
• Coordinate with engineering, program management, manufacturing, procurement, property management, security, QA, finance, and shipping/receiving to resolve issues.
• Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, ITAR/EAR, quality standards, and university policies.
• May supervise staff, including hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management.
