Job summary

Formlabs in Somerville, MA is seeking a Materials Intern to join our development lab. You will work side-by-side with our Materials team on new material challenges, gaining hands-on experience in polymers, chemistry, and materials testing.

The role combines wet-lab work, CAD familiarity (SolidWorks) and basic programming (Python), with a culture of collaboration and rapid prototyping. Winter/Spring 2027, onsite, full-time, with generous perks and opportunities to contribute to real products.

Qualifications

• Passion for material science or chemistry with hands-on lab experience.
• Completed coursework or research involving polymers.
• Familiarity with CAD programs (SolidWorks) and basic programming (Python).

Responsibilities

• Work in the materials development lab on various materials challenges.
• Formulate, test, and analyze new materials for testing and iteration.
• Collaborate with the Materials team on experiments and documentation.
• Support data collection and reporting to help product development.
