Job summary

Formlabs in Somerville, MA, is offering a Summer 2027 Materials Internship. You will work in the materials development lab to formulate and test new materials that push 3D printing boundaries.

The role requires passion for material science or chemistry, wet-lab comfort, polymer coursework, CAD proficiency (SolidWorks), and basic Python programming. On-site in Somerville with full-time commitment and internship perks.

Qualifications

• Passion for material science or chemistry.
• Experience in a wet lab environment is preferred.
• Completed coursework or research involving polymers.
• Familiarity with CAD programs, especially SolidWorks.
• Basic programming skills in Python."

Materials development presents one of the greatest opportunities in 3D printing. As a Materials intern, you’ll work side-by-side in the lab with the rest of our Materials team. You’ll get an opportunity to constantly develop, formulate, and test materials that we’ve never printed with before – and every experiment plays a big role in how we solve new challenges in 3D printing.

The Job:

• Passionate about material science or chemistry

Compensation

Interns at Formlabs are paid on a bi-weekly pay schedule. The pay range for this role will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location and expected impact on the organization. This is a salaried role, so you will always be paid based on the assumed 40 hours per week as a full-time intern. This position does not offer housing or relocation assistance.

The weekly pay range for this role is:

$1,300—$1,700 USD
