Job summary

NorthSlopeTelecom,Inc. (NSTI) is seeking a Materials Handler in Alaska to manage movement, storage and documentation of materials and equipment in a fast-paced environment.

The role supports project managers, site leads, and logistics specialists to ensure timely deliveries and safe handling on a 2-week on/2-week off rotation, with a 2-year contractual commitment. Responsibilities include inventory control, shipping/receiving, freight handling, and equipment operation.

Qualifications

• Must have Alaska driver’s license and, if applicable, CDL; forklift cert is preferred.
• DOT medical card and ability to pass a physical capacity exam required or preferred.
• Experience in telecom/utility industry is a plus; familiarity with inventory software.
• Strong hands-on ability with basic tools and equipment, plus organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and control inventory; ensure accurate records and organized storage for operational needs.
• Read and track work orders to determine material needs and assignments.
• Complete shipping/receiving documentation and record quantities handled.
• Move freight and equipment between storage, loading docks, and work areas; secure loads and inspect for damage.

KeyResponsibilities

InventoryandMaterialControl

• Managecompanymaterials,tools,andequipmenttomaintainaccurateinventoryrecords,organizedstorage,andavailabilityforoperationalneeds.
• Readandtrackworkordersandinstructionstodetermineassignmentsandmaterialneeds.
• Completeshippingandreceivingdocumentationandrecordquantitieshandledusingproductionsheetsorworktickets.
• Sortcargobeforeloadingandafterunloading;inspectcontentsforcomplianceanddamage,attachidentifyingtags,andmarkknownhazards.

FreightHandlingandDeliveries

• Movefreight,stock,andequipmentbetweenstorageareas,loadingdocks,deliveryvehicles,containers,andworkareasusingtrucks,forklifts,ormanualhandlingmethods.
• Pickupanddelivermaterialsandequipmentfromvendorsandlocalworksites,coordinatingtimingandlocationswithProjectManagers,SiteLeads,orLogisticsSpecialists.
• Stackcargoonpalletsorcargoboardsandsecureloadswithbracing,padding,orstrappingtopreventshiftingordamageduringtransport.
• Operateslings,hooks,andotherliftingdevicestoliftandguideloads.

• Maintainandcleanequipmentandstorageareastoprotectinventoryandsupportsafeoperations.

Qualifications

Education

ExperienceandCertifications
