Job summary

Panasonic Energy is seeking a Manager, Materials Engineering to lead NA materials programs for lithium‑ion battery production. You will manage a technical team, evaluate materials, coordinate with engineering, production, and procurement, and drive supplier qualification and mass production readiness.

The role requires strong leadership, global collaboration, and a track record in materials development and program management within battery contexts.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years in engineering, materials science, or related technical field with increasing responsibility.
  • At least 3 years in people management or substantial technical leadership.
  • Experience with lithium‑ion battery materials and cell manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to lead cross‑functional, geographically distributed teams on complex programs.
  • Strong program and project management, with data‑driven decision making.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross‑functional programs to develop and qualify NA battery materials supply chain.
  • Define scope, milestones, timelines, resources, and risk registers.
  • Direct material evaluation from feasibility through mass production.
  • Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, and suppliers.
  • Ensure lab capabilities and analytical methods support development needs.
  • Develop and implement new analytical methods with suppliers as needed.
  • Maintain supplier relationships to enable qualification and execution.
  • Plan and execute production trials with cross‑functional teams.
  • Lead process improvements for the material introduction workflow.
  • Provide concise, data‑driven updates to senior leadership.
  • Identify risks early to support timely decisions; weekly updates with teams in Japan.
