Helion is seeking a Materials Engineering Intern for a 12-week onsite summer program in Everett, WA. You will assist in literature reviews, perform material characterization tests, and present results during weekly team meetings and the year-end intern showcase.

You will gain hands-on experience with polymers, metals, ceramics, and composites while collaborating with industry experts in clean energy. This role is ideal for a graduate student seeking practical lab experience at a fusion energy

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry or related field.
• GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Willingness to learn and operate lab characterization tools.
• Fundamental background in materials science principles, including material properties, thermodynamics, and mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Assist in R&D of polymers, metals, ceramics, and composites.
• Conduct experiments to test material properties under various conditions.
• Analyze data to identify trends and optimize material properties.
• Support characterization using microscopy, spectroscopy, and mechanical testing.
• Document and present research findings in reports and at meetings.
• Participate in cross-functional team discussions.
