Job summary

Helion is seeking a Materials Engineering Intern to support literature reviews, assist in preparing samples, and perform material characterization tests at our Everett, WA site. You will help analyze data, present results in weekly meetings, and contribute to the year-end intern showcase.

The role runs for 12 weeks onsite during summer 2027, requiring full-time availability and enrollment in a graduate program (MS or PhD).

Qualifications

• Graduate student (MS or PhD) in a related engineering or chemistry field.
• GPA 3.0 or above.
• Experience with material characterization techniques.
• Willingness to learn and operate lab equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the research and development of new materials, including polymers, metals, ceramics, and composites.
• Conduct experiments to test the properties and performance of materials under various conditions.
• Analyze data from material tests and experiments to identify trends and optimize material properties.
• Support the characterization of materials using techniques such as microscopy, spectroscopy, and mechanical testing.
• Contribute to the documentation and reporting of research findings, including technical reports and presentations.
• Participate in cross-functional team meetings to discuss project progress and challenges.
