Job summary

ASML in San Diego, CA is seeking a Materials Engineer to serve as the materials expert on a multidisciplinary team developing EUV Lithography components. You will guide material selection, testing, and reliability to ensure performance and quality in demanding environments.

This role emphasizes cross‑functional collaboration with design, suppliers, and quality teams, plus hands-on characterization using SEM, XPS, AFM, and related techniques.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nano Engineering, or a related field.
• Master's or PhD preferred.
• Must have 5 years of relevant experience in Materials Engineering.
• Strong understanding of engineering metals, specialty alloys, and refractory materials.
• Experience with material characterization, microstructural analysis, and surface evaluation techniques.
• Hands-on experience with analytical tools such as SEM, EDS/EDX, XPS, AFM, or similar characterization technologies.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership related to material selection, compatibility, characterization, and reliability.
• Collaborate with design engineers, suppliers, and quality teams throughout the product lifecycle.
• Lead or support structured failure analysis and root-cause investigations.
• Document findings and recommendations through reports and presentations.
