Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC is seeking a Quality Engineer Intern to support materials engineering activities for F1 power unit components. This onsite internship offers hands-on experience with advanced analytical equipment and labs, while collaborating with experienced engineers to ensure components meet tight specifications and FIA regulations.

You'll assist in day-to-day quality operations, data collection, analysis, and reporting for root-cause investigations and process

Qualifications

Pursuing a degree in a relevant technical field.
Interest in materials, processes, testing, and properties.
Familiarity with CAD and data analysis tools.
Coursework in materials science and engineering.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Collaborates effectively with internal teams and external partners.
Adaptable to evolving business needs and opportunities.
Growth mindset and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

Assist day-to-day quality operations and special projects.
Utilize lab instruments (optical, SEM, chemical analysis, mechanical testing) to characterize materials.
Assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting for root cause investigations and improvements.
Maintain the materials lab, including equipment calibration and organization.
Support creation of material and process specifications and lab procedures.
Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to learn quality processes and ensure compliance with standards.
Other duties as assigned.
