Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC is seeking a Vehicle Performance Simulation Graduate Placement Engineer for a 12-month onsite internship to contribute to the development, testing, and optimization of our Formula 1 power unit program.

You will work with simulation engineers on model development, data analysis, and race preparation, gaining hands-on ownership of projects in a fast-paced motorsport environment that emphasizes precision and learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree completed or near completion in mechanical/automotive engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in Python and MATLAB for engineering analysis and automation.
• Experience with vehicle dynamics, powertrain concepts, or data analytics is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support development, maintenance, validation, and documentation of vehicle and power unit simulation models.
• Conduct circuit-specific performance studies using lap-time simulation tools.
• Compare predictions with dyno/test/track data and support model correlation.
