Job summary

Indium Corporation in Rome, NY is seeking an Associate Scientist I to assist the supervisor in material preparation, testing, and development. You will help design test methodologies, collect data, and document procedures in a laboratory setting.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, strong communication, and hands-on lab experience. You will maintain equipment, train staff, and support manufacturing processes for upgraded material performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills with a focus on data processing.
• Experience in safety, quality assurance, and best practices in engineering and laboratory.
• Hands-on machine operation and test experience.
• Ability to read and understand product design and fabrication documentation.
• Ability to document design changes for specifications, per standards.
• Provide own source of transportation for any local travel between Indium Corporation facilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist supervisor in material preparation, testing, and development.
• Follow electronic industry practices and testing methods for materials.
• Perform comprehensive testing of material properties (mechanical, electrical, thermal).
• Assist in designing new test vehicles and testing methodologies.
• Collect, process, and interpret developmental data.
• Document testing procedures and materials specifications.
• Keep team updated on project status and risks.
• Train staff on equipment use.
